Dr. Shawn Foo is a consultant cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist at North Shore Hospital (Auckland, NZ). Shawn graduated from the University of Liverpool (UK) and relocated to New Zealand in 2014. He has worked at several New Zealand public hospitals including North Shore, Auckland City and Middlemore Hospital and completed his cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Waikato Hospital (Hamilton, NZ) and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney, Australia).

Shawn is a specialist in managing arrhythmias such as supraventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation with medications or catheter ablation. He also implants cardiac devices such as permanent pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices.

Shawn has 13 peer-reviewed publications in cardiac electrophysiology and received his Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology in 2020. Shawn is currently pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) on cardiac implantable electronic device use, implant trends and outcomes in New Zealand.

Shawn is fluent in Mandarin and is pleased to be able to communicate with Chinese patients in their native language, helping them to understand the details of their care.

His private work is through the Cardiology Institute, a North Shore-based private practice with satellite clinics in Greenlane and Howick.
