CT Coronary Angiogram

A coronary computed tomography angiogram CTCA is a test using intravenous contrast dye. To outline the blood vessels around and connected to the heart.

It is an ideal non-invasive test to investigate  patients with low and medium cardiovascular risk.

These images visualise  plaque or calcium deposits in the artery walls and identify existing blockages as well as qualifying future risk.

CTCAs are faster to perform than an angiogram, less invasive hence pose  less risk and discomfort as well as quicker recovery time.

The choice between a CTCA and an angiogram is a complex analysis of your clinical risk and presentation. This will be discussed in detail by your cardiologist.
